Khari Crossing is one of those places where Path of Exile 2 stops being polite and starts checking whether you've actually been paying attention. The fight with Akthi and Anundr can look manageable at first, then suddenly the whole arena feels hostile. That's why most players stick with it instead of walking away. The reward matters, and if you're already thinking about long-term builds, stuff like poe 2 Mirror of Kalandra or extra passive options is never something you ignore. This encounter may be tied to an optional objective, but it doesn't play like optional content. It's more like an early warning for what the game expects from you later on.

Why Anundr should go down first
A lot of people make the same mistake in this fight. They tunnel vision on Akthi because she's the one rushing them, swiping, diving, and generally making a nuisance of herself. Feels natural to hit what's closest. Don't. Anundr is the real problem. He's the one making the floor miserable with quicksand and poison, and once that starts stacking up, your movement gets worse, your dodges get late, and then Akthi cleans up. If you burn down Anundr first, the pace of the fight changes straight away. You get room back. You get time to think. And in PoE 2, that's often worth more than raw damage.

How to move without getting trapped
This fight punishes lazy movement. If you're jogging in straight lines or backing yourself into the edge of the arena, you're setting yourself up for trouble. The safer way is to move in wide curves and keep both enemies visible as much as you can. You'll notice pretty quickly that Akthi becomes far less scary when you can actually see her setup. If the ground shifts or ripples, don't hesitate. Move sideways, not backwards. That one habit saves a lot of panic rolls. Her ranged poison isn't too bad on its own, but when it lands while you're slowed by quicksand, that's when things go wrong fast.

Small prep makes a big difference
You don't need perfect gear here, but a little preparation helps more than people think. A decent movement skill is huge. A flask with some recovery or extra speed can carry a shaky run. Poison and area damage can wear you down even if each hit seems minor, so don't brush it off. Early acts are full of players saying they can tank “just a bit more,” and then they're back at the checkpoint. If your resistances are rough, play cleaner instead of greedier. Land a few hits, reposition, then go again. Once Anundr is dead, Akthi turns into a much more readable one-on-one fight.

What this fight is really teaching you
What makes this encounter memorable isn't just the danger. It's the lesson behind it. PoE 2 wants you to read the arena, pick the right target, and stay calm when the screen gets messy. If you treat it like a simple damage race, it'll probably punish you. If you slow down and manage the space, it suddenly feels fair. That's why it's worth doing, even if you're tempted to move on and PoE 2 currency farm for other upgrades later, because this boss pair teaches habits that matter way beyond Khari Crossing and makes the next skill point reward feel properly earned.
